A Tradition of Excellence in Sales and Service
About Oriental Rug Mart
Oriental rugs have always been part of Reza Nejad Sattari’s life, from his early childhood in Iran straight through to the present day. Like many Iranians, rug-making has been a cultural tradition in his family for generations, and he fell in love with the artistic combination of colors, forms, and textures while watching his mother and grandmother weaving rugs at home. That artistry connects directly to the emotions—not only through color and form, but through tactile sensation.
Sattari left Iran as a young man and settled in the US, and the seeds that were planted in childhood took root here in his adult years, first as a photographer, and later as a purveyor of fine Oriental rugs. Now many decades hence, Reza and his wife Jila Kalantari have nurtured those seeds to maturation, where they have found expression in Oriental Rug Mart.
Hand-knotted rugs are artisan in nature, and each is unique, with a singular combination of materials, dyes, designs, and skill. The very best examples take on a mysterious, even mythical quality that transcends the materials and even the craftsmanship involved. Over the course of forty years, Reza and Jila have seen countless variations and combinations of these components that range from the simple to the sublime.
Oriental Rug Mart offers hand-knotted rugs in the finest tradition from rug making regions around the world. Machine made collections are also available for modern design sensibilities, along with custom-cut broadloom options. Expert cleaning and repair accompany these offerings, along with expertise in rug identification and appraisal.
